The Kirazlı Project is located 14 km away from the Atikhisar reservoir, and the processing facilities for the project are located outside the Atikhisar reservoir watershed.
Through meetings and community education campaigns in the region, the Company has provided correct information and continues to address concerns raised. The Company has worked to shift attention to accuracy to reduce misinformation.
It is important to note that the project will not source water from the Atikhisar reservoir. In fact, the Company entered into a public-private agreement with the local water authority to construct an independent water reservoir which will be a source of fresh, drinking water for the region – an investment of US $12.5 million. Over 90% of the water reservoir will provide clean drinking water for nearby communities, and 8% of the water will be for the operation and clean drinking water.
